Photoblog; Flying Above the Skies of Alaska

One of the last experiences we had in Southeast #Alaska was a #flight #tour aboard a piloted #floatplane, and it was also our favourite of the trip! Seeing Alaska's beautiful #scenery from above was simply incredible, especially flying above Misty Fjord.

With Moby’s ‘Porcelain’ soundtrack blasting through our ears, we lifted off from the green emerald fjord, up into the clear skies. The psychedelic music made a dramatic start to our aerial tour of Southeast Alaska onboard a floatplane.

We were nearing the end of our Southeast Alaska expedition onboard InnerSea Discoveries; after days of hiking glaciers, encountering icebergs and sea-kayaking, this flightseeing programme was one of our last activities.

Like they say, we were saving the best for last.

From above, Alaska’s beauty left us spellbound; endless stretches of temperate forests, plundering peaks of granite mountains and curvy fjords sprawl over the Misty Fjord area.

Our pilot explained that this is bear country, home to various species of wildlife including mountain goats, moose and grizzlies. We stared down into the vast, empty wilderness and see specks of wild animals roaming free – this is Alaska.
