Funarium Bangkok – “Fun” is Just the Beginning!

Our kids had so much fun at Funarium in #Thailand that we had to make a second trip there. It is simply a huge indoor #playground with trampolines, a bicycle track, roller skating, and more. The facility is very secure and geared toward safety, which gave us peace of mind. Overall, this is a must for a #family visiting #Bangkok!

We found a secret little gem situated right in the middle of Bangkok's central residential district between Sukhumvit Road and Rama 4 Road. Your kids will absolutely love it. Funarium is open everyday from 9am to 7pm. Entry is based on height ranges: Caius was considered “small” (up to 105cm) and cost 180B ($5.50) and Mia was “medium” (105cm to 13 yrs) and we paid 300B ($9.30). There are no time limits once entry is paid, so although it’s a little more than the low-end play centres, you can still get good value for money.

This is no ordinary indoor playground; Funarium is made for hours of fun. In addition to your typical slides, trampolines, climbing frames and ball pits, they also have a bicycle track with neat little scooters, bikes (with and without training wheels) and roller-skates for the kids to whizz around on. Helmets are also provided for mum and dad’s peace of mind.

One wall is a 3m tall whiteboard for creative drawing and nearby is located a well-designed toddler play area. On Saturdays the rooms on the upper level have arts & crafts, and the café runs a cooking class for kids for just an extra $3. If you’re looking for a party venue, this offers private rooms. There is even a small outdoor area with a sand pit and some water fun.

We visited Funarium twice since the kids love it so much. As a parent it was a great place to sit at the café and enjoy some much needed “laptop time” (along with a yummy muffin). The café food was delicious – much better than we expected – and it also served hot drinks and light meals.

Keep in mind, socks are required, and if you don’t bring them you can purchase a pair if you forget. There are convenient lockers (free) for your bags or personal items, but on a busy Saturday they can get snapped up pretty quickly. The only thing missing is free WIFI for the adults.

Having fun
The kids had a blast!

Miss 3 had an incident while at Funarium, as she had forgotten to go to the toilet. I had not brought any spare clothes and had to pop next door to Mothercare for spare underwear. Not recommended - $35 for 7 pairs! I mean really, we are in Thailand! I’ve learned my lesson for not being prepared.

In line with this there are a few restaurants around the place with playgrounds for children. One we tried was Charle E Chang's. As we pulled into the empty parking lot and looked through the dusty windows we could see the place was shut down. So please remember to cross this off your list, before wasting money on the taxi drive (not that it cost that much for us).

Funarium is a fabulous spot for kids 1-12yrs, I highly recommend a visit.
