- Silfra Fissure
- Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir)
- Gjabakkahellir Lava Tube (Summer)
- Vorduhellir Lava Tube (Winter)
Our adventure starts with the black as we explore the hidden world of the lava field underneath the Þingvellir National Park. The park is located in the tectonic rift valley between America and Europe and is also filled with incredible lava caves. On this trip we will explore an Icelandic cave and discover the marvels that volcanic activity has created in the past. The cave is a perfect example of an Icelandic lava tube and is situated in one of the most active volcano areas in the world. After the cave exploration you have time to grab lunch before moving on into the blue for your second adventure...
Part two of this trip includes snorkeling in the Silfra Fissure, an otherworldly scene that is world famous for its heavenly shades of blue. The crystal clear water in the deep fissure gives you a feeling of pure weightlessness as you venture down the lazy current. The snorkeling is a relaxing yet exotic trip in an unbelievably beautiful environment between the two Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.
Note #1: Due to limited capacity and Þingvellir National Park regulations this tour sells out frequently, we recommend you book this tour well in advance.
Note #2: Do you have bad eyesight? On the snorkeling tour you will be wearing snorkeling / dive goggles and to see underwater there can be nothing in the way of the seal to keep them from filling up with water. That is, you can not wear glasses underneath the goggles. You will have to go without them, wear eye lenses or bring your own goggles with prescription.
Note #3 : Although you don´t need to "swim" while snorkeling, we recommend that you can. The reason for that is people that can´t swim tend to panic when they are in the water. You have to be comfortable with floating in water.

Arctic Adventures is an Icelandic adventure and activity company with an emphasis on eco tourism and environmentally friendly trips throughout the entire island. Our story starts in 1983 when a young couple named Villa & Bassi went white water rafting in Nepal and returned home with complete intent to launch Iceland’s first Adventure Company. They started to explore rivers and came across the Hvítá River in relative proximity to the Golden Circle and Drumboddsstaðir farm (which today is the Drumbo Basecamp). As a result, Drumbo was officially established as their base of operations. Ever since then our team has been rafting this beautiful river and offering the same experience to people from all over the world. Over time our company has expanded, creating vast improvements and opportunities for customers to get a true sense of what Iceland has to offer.www.adventures.is
