Venture Into the Mediterranean sea With Barcelona Sail
A #sail around #Barcelona is a great way to see the city from a different angle. Being born with sea legs, there is really no place I would rather be than on a boat. Whether you are looking for a scenic view of the sunset, or an #active afternoon navigating through some moderate winds, a few hours at sea will make your next trip to Barcelona a memorable one!
Barcelona is a very interesting place. With over 1.6 million people, the city is so culturally rich in a way that reminds me of a Berlin by the seaside. Though the city is quite large there is still a sense of community here. All the roads and pathways are made for socializing and different districts take turns hosting street parties that offer cheap beer, delicious food and entertaining music.

Barcelona is fairly easy to get to so people all over Europe and the UK fly in just for a weekend to do some shopping, gorge on some tapas and dance the night away. Las Ramblas is the most touristic pedestrian street in all of Barcelona. It is fully equipped with statuesque street performers, restaurants and even a seedy red light district by night. This area is perfect during the day for first time visitors to the city, but I wouldn’t recommend eating there unless it is some fresh Manchego cheese, jamón, nuts and dates from La Boqueria Market.
If you are looking for a more authentic hangout for food and drinks, I recommend Alcoba Azul. There are so many restaurants and bars in the city that it is impossible to try them all, but some local friends introduced this one to me.

It is a tiny little place that serves a twist on the typical tapas. If you visit this spot expect to enjoy little rounds of bread with an assortment of interesting toppings, local wine, beer and spirits and most importantly, the company of true Barcelonans.
Barcelona boasts a great energy that one would expect from a place that has beautiful weather 6 months of the year. Aesthetically, the landscape is breathtaking with the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the Serra de Collserola mountain range on the other. The skyline of famous architecture is picturesque from the sea both day and night. So, if you are looking for something special to do on your next trip to Barcelona, I suggest pushing off the docks of Port Olimpic to really take in all of the city’s wonders from the open sea.
As a skipper, I take out trips 5 days a week for both beginner and more advanced sailors. The wind on the coast typically starts between 1 to 6 pm and offers pretty ideal sailing conditions.
Our trips are aboard Samba, a 9.54 metre long regatta, which has a history of racing in the northern Spanish seas.

It is the perfect type of vessel for the Mediterranean coast as it is very agile and responsive to light winds. We are one of the only boats to still raise the spinnaker in light winds. This almost 100 square metre sail is a magnificent sight in the open air.
Barcelona Sail offers custom trips for anywhere between 2 and 9 people, weather depending. For people looking for a more active sail, we involve our “crew” from dock to sea. Preparing and hosting sails, taking the helm and stern, understanding the sailing conditions and how to read the winds are just a few ways in which our groups participate on the open water. More leisurely experiences are possible too. We really try to create an intimate and customized experience. That is why all of our trips are exclusive, meaning that you have the entire boat to yourself.
Day sailing is an excellent choice for people looking to experience a more active sail. We travel out the perfect distance to see all of the enthralling landmarks that are so unique to Barcelona, like Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia and Montjuic.

Barcelona Sunset sailing is also quite surreal.
Since the sunset in Barcelona does not occur on the seaside, away from the shore is the only way to capture the sky’s colour change from blue to deep shades of red, pink and orange.

With some nice music and a cold mojito there is really no better way to enjoy the enchanting view as the sun disappears behind the city and mountains.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a wish on a shooting star then night sailing is most definitely a must.

The city skyline is beautifully lit by nightfall. And once we get out to sea, the stars are so vivid. It is a pretty magical scene for stargazing and learning more about the constellations.
All of our trips leave from the Port Olimpic, which is directly on the beach and roughly a 15 minute walk from the city centre. Because our rentals are exclusive, trips can be adapted for the best experience possible. Whether you are planning to visit Barcelona with a group of friends or a significant other, Barcelona Sail is just that perfect added touch to make for a memorable visit in the capital of Catalan.
