Gleneagles – Glamour and Gastronomy
My stay in Gleneagles Hotel, #Auchterarder #Scotland was simply amazing. Our room was #luxury and the place was definitely suited for #relaxation. Me and my husband enjoyed #foodanddrink as well and the service was impeccable.
Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder deserves every one of its five stars. It is elegant, has fabulous facilities and top notch restaurants but its real speciality is in making every single customer feel like a VIP.
I was lucky enough to receive a Gift Voucher for an overnight stay with dinner in the Strathearn Restaurant for my 50th Birthday.

When we entered the plush reception area after being greeted by the friendly doorman, Robert whispered “Try not to look like the poor relation.”
“But I am the poor relation,” I protested.
I needn’t have worried. During our entire stay we were treated like royalty. Some posh places can be intimidating, you get the feeling that the staff are looking down their nose at you. This is definitely not the case at Gleneagles, quite the opposite.
we were treated like royalty.
We marvelled at the opulent stairway with the huge chandelier and plush décor in the corridor and when we pushed open the door to our Estate room – wow!
It was truly sumptuous and palatial, decorated in neutral tones with a massive bed and quality bed linen. Robert laughs when I comment on quality linen but to slip into luxury cotton bedding is bliss.
There was a separate sofa area for relaxing and eating the pre-dinner canapés which were part of our deal.
The bathroom was bigger than our living room at home with Jack and Jill sinks and a roll top bath.
We spent about fifteen minutes exploring the room, oohing and ahing before donning our swim suits and heading to the leisure facilities. More wows! Ceramic heated loungers, two swimming pools, one of which has a heated outside area with cascading water, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna - the works. What stresses and strains?
At night we had a pre-dinner drink in the bar area, served with nuts and olives.
Our dinner in the Strathearn was out of this world and the service was impeccable.

Next morning there was a dazzling choice at the buffet breakfast including pancakes, smoked salmon, cold meats, cheeses, as well as the full Scottish selection.
Ah well, all good things must come to an end but before we left we walked around the extensive grounds where it is possible to try falconry, play golf or tennis, get lost in a maze, ride horses. The list is endless.
On the morning of our stay two inches of snow had fallen. We felt as if we had walked into a fairy tale landscape.
There aren’t really enough superlatives in the dictionary to describe Gleneagles. But don’t take my word for it, book an overnight stay. You deserve it. Or even better, get someone to buy you a Gift Voucher. It may only be May but I already know what is going on my Christmas list for Santa.
