Thavorn Palm Beach Resort: Phuket
The #ThavornPalmBeach Resort’s bragging points are its lush grounds similar to those at Thavorn Beach Village and #Spa, and its five swimming pools. Jumping in and out of each you will find waterfalls, crocodile fountains, a swim-up bar, multiple #relaxation lounge areas and kiddie areas all with a view of the ocean.
The resort is in a great location in Karon Beach, Phuket, right across the street from the beach and surrounded by a few other hotels, restaurants and bars. At night tuk-tuks lit up with neon lights and fitted with huge speakers playing club music for their passengers go up and down the road. This section of the beach seemed to be mostly inhabited by guests of the resort and was less crowded than others.

The Grounds
The Palm resort is like a slightly louder cousin of Thavorn Beach, as you might expect due to the location. The bustling property includes an Italian restaurant, a coffee shop, a mexican restaurant, Old Siam Thai Restaurant and the Windsong Cafe. You won’t need to leave to find food, but if you do there are plenty of options along the same road.

Railay Snorkeling
Upon arriving at Thavorn Palm, the beautiful lobby with high ceilings and gardens create a serene, relaxing vibe. There are cozy little sitting areas separated by railings where you can settle in while you wait for your room or once you’ve checked out.

Other than the bulbuls singing from their cages hung around the property and mini thai chickens roaming the lawn, keep an eye out for other beautiful birds.

Plant lovers should be sure not to miss the beautiful orchid garden with orchids specifically bred to withstand the salty air.

The Food
We took advantage of the special all you can eat menus at the mexican restaurant and Old Siam, so we got to try quite a few dishes. The mexican food was some of the best we have had in Thailand and we can wholeheartedly recommend most of the menu including the tacos, burritos and quesadillas (we were hungry).
For the best views, head up to Old Siam for dinner and sit at one of the tables along the railing. For our many dishes here we enjoyed some amazing curries, coconut soup, fried shrimp cakes and spring rolls. Try the red curry with duck.
Breakfast was served in the Windsong Cafe nestled in the gardens under the main lobby. We were treated to the sounds of many different birds while we ate. Be sure to make it to breakfast here, the atmosphere alone is worth it.

The Room
Rooms are set back from the road with the pool in the middle. We stayed in a pool access suite with a nice patio leading right out to the pool. Our suite had a separate living area, couches, breakfast table, powder room and roomy bathroom. The wall between the bedroom and bathroom was mostly glass, but a curtain is provided for privacy. There was even a day bed in the bedroom. The king-sized bed was actually two double beds pushed together, made separately and everything. Not the most comfortable, but perhaps this is not the case in all the rooms.

Quick Tips
Stick to the beach directly across from the resort, it is less crowded
Close to the busy nightlife but still quiet at night
Make sure to visit the orchid gardens and explore the grounds
