Our Enjoyable Stay at The Casa Wayra Hostel, Lima

Some #foodies call #Peru and particularly its capital #Lima the capital for #foodies. It is particularly recommended to all that during a visit to Lima one must try “ceviche”, or Chilean Sea Bass and Octopus freshly prepared at Callao port!

Peru’s capital and third largest city in the Americas encapsulates the Pacific Ocean with its hustle and bustle contrasting largely with beautiful views of the sea and surrounding valleys. It shouts a colonial narrative one might recognise from other parts of the continent, with rustic architecture, a Centro Historico district, grandeur churches and monasteries, and the nearby Inca Trail all pointing to historical motifs.

Yet the urban sprawl of this magnificent city gives way to towering buildings, a buzzing nightlife and plazas and a blend of pottering businessmen with a variety of local cultures. One can’t help but notice the strong gastronomic tones in this haven for foodies, and it is particularly recommended to all that during a visit to Lima one must try “ceviche”, or Chilean Sea Bass and Octopus freshly prepared at Callao port!

During our visit to Lima, one district in particular caught our eye and that was the ever-popular area of Miraflores. A sophisticated district, its name hints at its contents which consist of gardens and floral parks and beaches, as well as many shopping locations and a cultural centre consisting of theatres, galleries, cinemas and restaurants.

It was here that we took shelter in the wondrous Casa Wayra, a spot that we had high hopes for considering it was our final place of rest after seven months of travelling! We were far from disappointed. Spotlessly clean, well equipped, very comfy, super friendly and only a taxi ride away from the airport, it was perfect.

We were warmly welcomed by helpful staff, who assisted us with everything we needed. The friendly atmosphere complimented the space and surroundings with a beautiful, lush, well-kept garden and courtyard where we could chill out in over food or a drink. The reception area and living room was fully equipped with cosy couches, a TV, DVDs, books and a computer, and Enrique’s presence was so wonderful – he made us feel as much in love with Lima as he himself is.

Upon entering our room, we were pleased to find a well kept, beautifully presented area we could spend our final travelling moments in. The room, as much as any other area in the building, had fantastic Wi-Fi, while our bed was a lovely large size and we basked in the refreshing treat of a hot power shower! Bed linen and spare towels were all at the ready, as was free coffee and tea, cable tv and a hairdryer. Pretty luxurious things to have in one’s room in the heart of Peru!

In the dining room we were pleased to find a microwave and fridge, although we were mainly excited for the delicious breakfast that was included in the price of our stay! It was delicious and consisted of fresh bread, perfectly scrambled egg, fruit juice and great coffee. No better treats to wake up to while basking in the sun of the Americas!

The reviews on Tripadvisor as well as the hotel’s website really do speak miles about the quality of a stay you would receive in Casa Wayra. Even though it is labelled as a hostel, it really offers so much more than what a regular hostel does. In our opinions, it’s more like an upscale B&B that makes their guests feel at home with all the comforts and quality of service that is needed for an exceptionally enjoyable stay. For a perfect base to touch on, located

For a perfect base to touch on that’s located close to all reputable vicinities and situated in the heart of Lima’s prettiest, safest and most central neighbourhood, look no further than the Casa Wayra.
