Silverton Casino – off the Strip Hotel in Las Vegas
I found a great #hotel for my stay in #LasVegas, the Silverton Casino. Located off the strip, this #family friendly hotel was a great place to unwind and get some #relaxation or even carry on gambling in the hotel's casino. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the #foodanddrink was great value too!
One thing that surprised me the most about our trip to Las Vegas was the location of the Strip to other attractions, it’s actually not that big! I was kind of expecting Vegas to be as big as New York City so when we were looking for a place to stay, I wasn’t all that keen on staying in the heart of the Strip for our 9 day trip.
Instead we found a resort just a short drive away from all the glitz and the glam, the Silverton Casino. The moment we walked in we were in awe, granted everything in Las Vegas kind of took our breath away but the Silverton provided everything you could think of and more for a stay in Vegas.

About the hotel

For an alternative choice to staying on the strip, the Silverton is an ideal one especially for families. As with every hotel in Las Vegas, it has its own casino that is open 24 hours, 9 different restaurants and cafes and pool/workout area.

If you don’t plan on renting a car, they have free shuttles to and from the Strip so you won’t be far from the heart of Sin City. Another bonus is free transportation to and from McCarran Airport which is not normally offered from hotels on the strip.

However, the main attractions of this hotel is the aquarium. Right in the front when you walk in you’ll see a huge 117,000 gallon aquarium filled with all sorts of colorful tropical fish, sting rays and sharks.
The Aquarium

This aquarium is truly impressive and the hotel makes sure to keep the tank clean and the waters healthy with every animal looked after. I saw one of the biggest puffer-fish I’ve ever seen in my life (he’s been there for years), lots of the blue Dorys from Finding Nemo and all sorts of other tropical fish.

They have interactive stingray feedings so kids can learn more about these marine creatures which is a nice touch for families. Then on Thursday to Sunday, they have mermaid shows!

Yep they have women don fins and put on a show, doing flips and twirls underwater. Many of these women have experience in synchronized swimming so they’re not just showing off their fins for nothing. The costumes are actually quite beautiful and they usually have holiday performances. I heard that you can find Santa swimming in there around Christmas!
The Room
Our room was plenty spacious for two people with two queen beds, a desk and a sitting chair. The Silverton Casino is decorated with a rustic modern theme with lodge-like furnishings, soft lighting and a painting of a cowboy.

Bed were very comfortable, as you can tell from the picture the pillows were super fluffy and blankets were soft and plush.

Restaurants
Yeison and I ate twice at the on site restaurants and they were both excellent. Of course we had to try a buffet in Vegas so we had the lunch buffet one day and then the Sundance Grill for dinner. We were surprised at how affordable the buffet was, I was expecting prices in Vegas to be through the roof but for $10.99 a piece, it was great quality food with lots of choices.

Overall
For our first time in Vegas, the Silverton Casino definitely exceeded our expectations for an off the strip hotel in Las Vegas. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, there are plenty of food choices and you can actually spend a good chunk of time in the hotel without having to go to the Strip to experience the Gambling Capital of the World.

They have other attractions such as a Bass Pro Shop, mini art gallery, mini bowling alley and lounge pool so kids will also have a great time here.
If you’re looking for a place to stay that’s not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Strip, definitely check out the Silverton. It’s cozy, has a ton of great food options and the entire atmosphere is fun and friendly.
