New York Vibes at The GEM Hotel in Chelsea
The vibrant #NewYorkCity neighborhood of Chelsea is home to some of the city's best #art galleries and the hip High Line, where locals and tourists alike come for #relaxation. So while the city may never sleep, we had to, and chose a cool Chelsea pad to do it in.
Our last two nights in NYC were spent at the GEM Hotel. After staying in NoMad and Midtown Manhattan, we were excited to also explore the Chelsea neighborhood.
We loved the mid-century modern decor of the hotel lobby and bar that serves up gourmet coffee, beer, wine, and light bites. Can you tell this place attracts a lot of hipsters?

As far as amenities go, they have WiFi, bottled water, shoe shines, and the basement has a small fitness room to get in some exercise on the road. They also had a barista at the bar, so I had to order an expresso to enjoy with my Dominique Ansel pastries we picked up.
The rooms were small, but we found that it’s very typical of boutique hotels in NYC.
Here’s the view out of our window. You can see the empire state building. :)
You can also bring your refreshments up to the rooftop patio to enjoy the views of the city. We had beautiful weather while we were there and definitely took advantage of this!
The area has plenty to explore! You’re within walking distance of The High Line, the Chelsea Market, and just a block away from Doughnut Plant, which we may have visited a few days in a row.
For you photographers out there, you’re a short walk away from B&H which is a must visit if you’ve never been before. It’s like a department store just for camera gear! *heart eyes*
The Chelsea neighborhood has a lot of charm to it. Tree-lines streets and brownstone really give it a neighborhood feel, while leaving plenty to do and explore. And a short subway ride takes you conveniently to wherever you want to go in Manhattan.

Overall, the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, the WiFi was solid, and we really enjoyed the rooftop terrace. What more do you need?
Another amazing thing about the GEM Hotel is that they really invest in the community. You can get involved with renovating public schools and community centers, holiday clothes, and food drives, or partnering with organizations in the area. Just ask the concierge for more info.
