Summer Experiences For The Whole Family at Blue Mountain Resort

Summer Experiences For The Whole Family at Blue Mountain Resort

It's not always easy to find places where the entire #family can agree on things to do. However, Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario, #Canada may be one of those diamond in the rough places. The amount of activities they offer is off the charts, and it's ridiculously easy to keep your entire crew #active during your stay.

My family recently revisited Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, Ontario and spent two days taking in the incredible views, having fun in the sun and getting a little creative.

If you’re thinking about heading out to the Collingwood area here’s 5 activities your family might enjoy:

Apex Bagjump

New this year at Blue Mountain Resort is the Apex Bagjump. Climb up to four different platforms (the highest being 21 feet) and leap onto the air bag waiting below.

Now if I could get over my fear of heights, I would be able to tell you what it’s like. It looks fun though!

Ridge Runner Coaster Ride

My husband and I had a blast on this ride this year and last summer. My eyes remained shut the entire time and I was laughing all the way down – partly out of fear and a teeny weeny bit because I was having fun on a “coaster” – I haven’t been on a real roller coaster since high school.

Plunge! Aquatic Centre

Plunge! Aquatic Centre provides hours of fun with an indoor-outdoor pool, indoor water playground, rope swing, water slides and hot tubs.

We spent an about two hours after breakfast playing in the water here. It typically gets busy on weekends so go early in the morning or plan on a weekday visit if you want to avoid the crowds.

One of the best things about Plunge! is that it’s open regardless of what’s happening outside – rain, sun, or snow.

Crock-a-Doodle

If you’re looking for a quiet activity or your plans for outdoor fun get interrupted by rain, paint your own pottery at Crock-a-Doodle (located near The Grand Georgian).

You can pick up your finished creations the next day after 4PM or have it shipped to you for a small fee. We ended shipping back two completed pieces for $15 as we left prior to 4.

The Amazing Views

One of the best things about visiting Blue Mountain Resort in the summer is being able to take in the amazing views without all the extra layers you’d need if you’re visiting in the winter.

There’s several activities that offers incredible views of the area – the open air gondola ride (my kids’ favourite and the one that I really didn’t want to go on but did anyways because I have a problem saying “No” to my children!), Wind Rider Triple Zips, high and low ropes courses, and the mountaintop segway tours.

Know Before You Go

1. Make a list of must do activities (check age and height requirements for each) and see if you can save a few dollars by purchasing one of three experiences:

Active Pack – Save 25% off some of the most popular resort attractions and activities. This is the one that works for our family of four because of the range of activities it covers.

Four Plus Pricing – Purchase 4+ attraction tickets and save 20% off the regular single ticket price for each attraction.

Mountain Experience – Build the adventure that’s just right for you and save up to 25% off.

2. Check the forecast before heading out. Certain activities are weather dependent and may shut down even if it’s just spitting outside.

3. Head to Activity Central (building at the base of the mountain) first thing in the morning so you can plan out your day and double check that the activities you want to do are running.

4. Use the complimentary resort shuttle instead of driving everywhere. It’s convenient if you need to leave the main resort area or if you want to head to the beach.
