Catherine recommends you:
Active on the Riviera; the Sea
Zooming over the waves, yanked over the sea by a #speedboat, or just cruising gently, here are some of my recommendations if you are headed to #Nice in the south of France and you are feeling #active. Stunning scenery and lots of water-sports and trips (for all budgets). Just remember the suncream.
When people think of Nice, they think of the sun and the sea, glamour and relaxation. If that is what you are after, then here are my recommendations for dining and relaxing.
But there is also so much more to do in the surrounding area too, all year round. In the autumn, there are some stunning walks. See 'Active in the Riviera; into the mountains.' If you come in the spring or autumn, then the 'arrière pays' has some stunning national parks and gorgeous lakes to discover, which you might not have realized are just tucked away.
But if you come in the summer and you are feeling active and want to make the most of the sea, then here are the FAB water-sports I have tried, tested, and love the most so far.
For one of my friend's leaving parties, we clubbed together and rented a speedboat for half a day. It was absolutely brilliant!
I was very chuffed that I managed to hang on for so long... but there comes a point when you regret your choice of swimwear and decide that letting go is probably the best option and your dignity will thank you later.
We rented the speedboat from Saint Laurent Du Var, we rented a FLYER 650 OPEN with Click and Boat.
Nikaia watersports - expensive, but worth doing once. If possible try to avoid the peak summer months, as they can be more expensive.
A couple of summers ago I also did the Flyfish which I really recommend too.

Stand up paddle; I tried this for the first time last summer and it was hilarious.

Unfortunately I cannot claim to be a natural... far from it, but our paddle-board fights were definitely memorable!
The Lérins Islands - Exploring on a Budget
If you still want to enjoy the sea, but you are a little bit more budget conscious and fancy a more relaxing trip then go to Cannes to get the boat, and head to the islands.
The Lérins Islands are a group of four small Mediterranean islands off the French Riviera, near Cannes. The two largest islands in this group are Île Sainte-Marguerite and Île Saint-Honorat.
A return trip is under €15, just make sure you don't miss the last one. Check here for times.
Take your swimming things and a picnic.
For the very very active, then Nice is also home to various races throughout the year, including the Iron Man - Triathlon (too much for me though I'm afraid).
Though I did try the 24h défis (how long can you run for in 24 hours. Running without sufficient training= collateral damage; one ankle and a thigh down).
There are lots of races throughout the year, one of the best concepts in place though has to be the No Finish Line in Monaco.
Bring sun-cream and swimming things.
