Dog Fun on the French Riviera

Dog Fun on the French Riviera

Read the #adventures of me, Alf the #Yonderdog, as I show you my favourite places around the Riviera and further afield. Here I stretch my little legs in Monaco and stay in the famous Hotel de Paris, eat in a great #restaurant and take a #boat trip in Cannes. Watch out for my next story!

Although I was born in Belgium, the French Riviera is where I was raised. I have lived here with my mummy and daddy for ten years, so I am quite used to being surrounded by beauty and luxury. I have many things that I enjoy doing here, from playing at the beach to resting in front of the fire at home. But sometimes I get bored and I ask my parents to take me out and spoil me. I want to see the world! So here’s what we discovered the last time we went adventuring together…

A photo of my young self, taken on my first years in the French Riviera. I'm quite fun, sometimes cannot stay still for photo-shooting.

One of the things I love to do the most is to be driven in the car (I have my own chauffeurs) so that I can put my head out of the window and see the sites. And sometimes I do stick my tongue out too.

But my parents can get tired of driving me, so we decided to rent a car and a driver so we could all enjoy the Riviera together. I loved our driver, he was very kind to me and gave me loads of good ideas of things to see in the area.

The driver took us straight to our hotel in Monaco, which is one of my favourite in the world. If you have never been to the Hotel de Paris, I feel sorry for you. It is magnificent.

Our room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated, which is important to me. Although the food available at Hotel de Paris is very good, we decided to dine at a different restaurant in Monaco, Stars and Bars.

It is magnificent!

It’s only a short walk away from Hotel de Paris and it’s right by the sea. The food there is great and I got enough tasty meat to satisfy my appetite. Check me out in the restaurant!

People here are so nice and welcoming, they treated me very well!Stars'n'Bars is an international place and I really love it! So many foreign people and locals, plus other fellow dogs. And the smell of the Hamburgers...hmmm

After spending a very comfortable night in Hotel de Paris, the next morning we went for a walk around Monaco. I love to see all the fancy cars and shops. There are also lots of other dogs around for me to play with, if I like them enough. So during the morning we walked all around Monaco and ended up at the Hotel Columbus, where some friends of ours were staying. All the humans had coffee but myself and my dog friend just had water. Coffee is not to my taste.

Our friends joined us for the day and we wondered what to do. We wanted to make the most of being in such a beautiful area and to go somewhere that would be fun for us canines too. Then we had a great idea: to hop on the train to Cannes. The train service is very easy to use as trains run frequently between Monaco and Cannes and it only takes just over an hour. The train runs mostly along the coast so the views are great. Dogs are welcome too! When we got into Cannes, we went to the port to catch a boat to the Iles St Lerins to visit these special little islands. They are truly some of the most beautiful places in the world: we visited Ile St Honorat, where monks have lived for over 600 years. I really enjoyed the boat crossing: 20 minutes of riding the waves and seeing the islands get closer and closer. I loved to feel the wind in my ears! Once we got to the island I had to stay on my lead, but I don’t mind that. My owners are very proud of how I behave on my lead.

We walked around the island and visited the abbey where the monks live, and we explored all the corners of the island. It has a wood and beaches and the sea, all of my favourite things! After a few hours of play time and exploring we hopped on the boat back to Cannes, and then on the train back to Monaco. After such a busy day I was happy to get back to my cosy hotel room to sleep at the foot of my parents’ bed!

I had a great time exploring the Riviera and stretching my little legs in some of the world’s most stunning and famous locations. I hope you liked reading my adventures, there will be more coming soon!
