Your Amazing Tour Experience in Detail:
Meet your guide at Castle Clinton, formerly a fort located in Battery Park. Your guide will board with you through priority access, and along the way you’ll learn about the remarkable history of the Statue of Liberty, and its inspirational meaning to millions of immigrants.

As you disembark on Liberty Island, you’ll tour the grounds and see the amazing NYC skyline. You’ll enter into the Pedestal of the Statue to tour the museum and learn about its construction and architecture. Hear about the remarkable stories of people that made this happen. After your descent from the Pedestal, you will board the ferry to Ellis Island.

Your guide will share the stories of the millions of immigrants who passed through Ellis Island while touring the grounds and Museum. After a quick lunch, we will embark on the exclusive Hard Hat Tour!

Your 90 minute adventure begins with getting your hard hat in preparation for the abandoned south part of Ellis Island. Hospitals, morgues, infectious disease wards, and staff housing sit eerily empty and dilapidated after decades of neglect. Visitors participating in the Hard Hat tour are able to touch, feel, and understand what they represent in a way that connects them to the past.

As part of the tour, an art exhibit titled “Unframed – Ellis Island” by renowned French artist JR is on display throughout the hospital complex. The exhibit features life size historic photos of Ellis Island immigrants installed on over 16 walls. JR, the recipient of the prestigious TED Prize, is known throughout the world for his pervasive art exhibitions which are designed to ask questions.
