‘The Snorkeling Adventure’ tour started in 1989 when its owner, Bertrand Pequignot, an adventurous Frenchman who fell in love with this country, began organizing snorkeling and diving tours to present tourists to the many beautiful sites of the Mayan Riviera.
Bertrand, an expert seafarer who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean on a frail caravel in the mid 70´s, soon became the pioneer for adventure tours in this area. His first vehicle was a bus with a kitchen, showers and a toilet which Bertrand used to tour travelers around the Riviera Maya and Guatemala.
After Hurricane Gilbert caused devastating damage to the area in 1988, Bertrand decided to create a permanent home for visiting tourists to the area, where they would enjoy the natural environment of the Mexican Caribbean, with a touch of adventure and an exciting Cancun snorkeling excursion.
With that in mind, he started looking for a more exclusive site, outside of the fast-growing city of Cancun, but still close enough for traveler convenience to the International Airport.
