Day 1: Arrive at Lhasa
Your private driver and guide will be ready for you when you arrive at Lhasa. Sit back in a comfortable, non-smoking car, leave the hassles to your guide, and enjoy a trouble-free transfer to your hotel-Shambhala Palace or Tashitakge Hotel.
Day 2: Visit Jokhang Temple and Sera Monastery
Enjoy an unhurried western breakfast like bread, hot coffee, and salad. Your guide and driver will pick you up to visit Tibetan Buddhist holy sites like Jokhang Temple and Sera Monastery. See the Jokhang Temple -the heart of a rich and living Tibetan Buddhism, join the locals with a circle clockwise around the Jokhang Temple spinning the many prayer wheels, and watch devotional pilgrims prostrate themselves nearby the front gate. You will walk along Barkhor Street, and visit a local Thangka workshop. Have a chance to meet local nuns in Ani Tsankhung Nunnery where the females learn about Buddhism.
In the afternoon, you will watch live monks debate age-old scripts at the courtyard in Sera Monastery. It is held at 15:00 every day(except Monday) and is a necessary way to learn sutras and scriptures.
Have lunch at Kechu Hotel, famous for its Tibetan and Nepalese food.
Day 3: Visit the Incredible Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery
You will visit the Potala Palace- the most iconic sight in Lhasa. A local English-speaking guide will unfold the palace’s history to you in a vivid way. Climb past the White Palace into the Red Palace to learn more about its Buddhism culture. Decorated by white clouds and pure sky, it is the most famous symbol of Tibet.
Visit Drepung Monastery in the afternoon, one of the biggest monasteries out of the six principle monasteries of the Gelu Sect in China. It is the monastery that holds the large-scale Shoton Festival every year. If you come about the beginning of August, you will have a chance view the grandest festival for Tibetans.
Have lunch at Steak House Restaurant.
Day 4: Picnic on Lakeside of Lake Yomdrok
Have a fun picnic of sandwiches, vegetable and fruits along the beautiful Yamdrok Lake. The Picnic is only arranged if it’s good weather. The lake is decorated by many islands and natural resources. As a big water birds habitat in Tibet, it’s also a great place to see hundreds of swans and gulls in summer.
Enjoy marvelous scenery of the Karuola Glacier, one of the three continental glaciers in Tibet. Enjoy the ice towers and elegant patterns on it.
Day 5: Visit Norbulingka and Airport Transfer
Today you will visit Norbulingka in the morning, the former summer palace of the Dalai Lamas. It is an open public park where the locals get together to camp and picnic in summer. It is the place to see more local people’s life; a beautiful park not to miss in Lhasa.
Your private guide and driver will take you to the airport for your departure.
